Motorola Droid 2 come in R2-D2 Edition as well
What’s the fun of focusing on droids when there isn’t the remotest references to the R2-D2 model that has already won the hearts and desires of many. Being a Star Wars fan has its limitation but they cannot be as severe as dropping down your ‘uber-cool’ cellphone requirement for the geekily themed one, can it? Well we had spoken of this earlier but the tangible presence of the same can only be justified by the working prototype of the R2-D2 Motorola Droid 2 Special Edition handsets. It also comes packed with custom live wallpapers, sounds, photos, widgets and a mysteriously elusive "binoculars app".
Look out iPad, the BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet is here and is loaded to the hilt
At this years BlackBerry Developer Conference, RIM brought out the big guns. Well it was a little bigger than their biggest phone. RIM’s Tablet that’s been called the PlayBook was finally made official. I find the name rather odd and I believe others will too, from a company that’s been focused for many years on the business sector to release a device they call ‘Play’ Book is a little strange. Then again if you think about it, all the new devices, including OS 6 have taken on a whole new funky look and feel. Gone are the days RIM was known as the Businessman’s brand. So back to the tablet – it’s got a 7-inch screen (1024 x 600 pixels), 1 GHz dual-core processor with 1 GB of RAM, comes with Adobe Flash 10.1, has a 3MP came in front and a 5MP camera with HD recording (1080p) at the rear, is Wi-Fi capable (DLNA support) and is just 9.7 millimeters thin weighing in at 0.9 pounds.

ThinkGeek's TK-421 iPhone case features a (working!) swing-out QWERTY keypad and works with the iPhone 4 or 3GS.
Users of BlackBerry devices and several other messaging-centric phones have long derided the Apple iPhone for its virtual on-screen keyboard. Now, ThinkGeek is looking to offer iPhone users some thumb-tastic messaging credibility with its new TK-421 case for the iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS, which features a (working!) swing-out QWERTY keyboard for users’ messaging needs. The keyboard works with the iPhone as a Bluetooth input device, which means no alterations to the phone are required for the keyboard to work, although use does mean tapping a little extra battery power to keep Bluetooth running. As a standard input device, the keypad should work with any installed iPhone application or service, including email, text messaging, social networking clients, Web browsers, and more. A magnetic clasp holds the keypad open or closed, and the keyboard itself is powered by a rechargeable battery: pop the device onto a USB port to recharge. ThinkGeek is offering separate models for the iPhone 4 and 3GS, owing to the devices’ different sizes. The case is not compatible with the iPhone 3G or original iPhone.
The ThinkGeek TK-421 case will be available in late November for $49.99.

Exclusively designed by Stuart Hughes, this bespoke system is crowned as the most expensive music center and the £1.2 million($1,850,000) price tag certainly justifies it. The whole Beosound system along with speakers is plastered with handmade solid gold veneer. Ipod Touch Supreme Fire evolves as the world’s most expensive iPod
Stuart Hughes’ supremacy prevails as he adds on to his list of Supreme collection. Stealing the honor of the most expensive iPod from his former creation is the new Ipod Touch SUPREME Fire. For £209,995 ($330,000), the iPod gets a glitzy facelift with 125 grams of solid 24ct gold as 124 diamonds jazz up the periphery. The Apple logo on the rear also glitters with 53 diamonds set in 21 grams of gold. And the cherry on the icing is the main navigation button that sports a single 2 ct diamond surrounded with 28 diamonds set in 16 grams of gold. In all this most expensive iPod is a piece of jewelry boasting of 75ct.

Rolls-Royce will display five bespoke designs at the 2010 Paris Motor Show
The Ghost has been one of the best sedans to come out of the Rolls-Royce stable. But seems like after all the affection Mansory has showered on the car, the Paris Motor show will not be able to witness a new variant after all. Instead Rolls-Royce is planning an exhaustive customization program which will be flagged off with five designs. What can you expect here? The collection is said to include Phantom Extended Wheelbase in Gunmetal metallic with Sunrise leather interior, a Carrara White metallic Phantom Drophead Coupe with Hotspur Red leather interior, a Phantom Coupe and two bespoke Ghost designs round off proceedings. Also on display will be an exclusive Rolls-Royce four-person picnic set.
LG Town made official, not available yet
The last time we spoke about the LG Town we had rightly guessed it to be a cheaper alternative for youth who’d dig a QWERTY for text messaging and social networking. Looking at the specifications of the phone after the official announcement there’s little doubt in my mind that it will after all be a good, affordable phone for a youngster to start off with. It sports a 2.4 inch screen, a 2 megapixel camera, FM, a media player, a 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth and a microSD expansion slot. To prove its worth as a good social networking phone, the Town also packs dedicated Facebook, Twitter and MSN clients in addition to push-mail support.
Samsung mentions 10-inch Galaxy tab could be out in 2011, should we wait?
Samsung only confirmed the Galaxy Tab at the beginning of this month to be official and they’re already talking about a higher end version making it out in 2011. The next gen device will be equipped with a larger display at 10-inches and would support HD video. We can also expect the next device to run on the newer versions of Android that will available at the time. The current Galaxy Tab is expected sometime at the end of October or beginning of November. The big question is, should you wait for the bigger and obviously better version?
Toshiba’s L635 Laptop Is Aimed At The Kiddie Market
I’m sure you’ve all had this nightmare: It’s your kid’s first day in Kindergarten, and when you pick her up from school, she’s crying. “What’s the matter, honey?” “Daddy, all the other kids have real laptops, I only have an iPad!” — what do you do?! Toshiba to the rescue. They’ve got a young’un-oriented laptop that will let your kid can run Excel on and that will survive a direct cupcake strike.
The L635 looks to be your basic compact notebook, with a 13.3″ display and a thin, but not too thin, form factor. The kid-friendly design is limited to the keyboard and shell: the keyboard is wipeable and resistant to fluids and crumbs, and the shell is fingerprint-resistant — you know, because kids hate fingerprints. On the inside, it’s got the KidZui for-kidz browser and Net Nanny comes pre-installed, so your kids can learn early how to circumvent censorship software. It’ll also have Lego Batman, becausehell yes.
There’s a built-in DVD drive and the usual ports. So I was kind of exaggerating when I said it was for kindergartners. It’s really more for the clumsy teen who has a bad habit of spilling shakes on his electronics. No specs are available, but it’s $500, so I’m guessing it’ll be competitive with the lower-end ultraportables out there. Low-power CPU… 2GB of RAM… onboard graphics or a combo chip, that sort of thing. It’ll be available September 26 at Best Buy.

Dell whips out 23-inch Inspiron One all-in-one and Zino HD
It's been awhile since we've heard from Dell on the home entertainment front, but don't you worry, the guys in Round Rock have been right on top of it. First up is the brand new Zino HD home theater PC, which like we'd heard is being updated with an AMD quad-core Phenom II processor that's more than capable of pumping out full HD to your HDTV. In typical Dell spirit there's tons of configuration options, including one for 1GB of ATI discrete graphics, a Blu-ray drive, and up to a terabyte of storage. For $299, we're a bit giddy about this little one considering it packs more power than any of those Ion nettops and it comes with a wireless keyboard and IR remote control.
If a large touchscreen all-in-one is more your thing, the Inspiron One can be configured with similar parts -- an AMD Athlon II X4 processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5450, Blu-ray, and up to 1TB are all on the list. To us, the real appeal of this one is its 1920x1080 resolution, 23-inch display, which produced some pretty stunning HD playback when we saw it in action last month. Dell's put a lot of energy into its new Stage touch interface, which consists of different tiled applications. It's actually more than eye candy as we're betting those Netflix and CinemaNow tiles will see plenty of tapping. The One starts at $799 and will be available this coming weekend -- but before you yank out the wallet, we'd suggest flipping through the galleries below and hitting the break for a read of the press release.

RIM Blackpad
Everyone is getting into the Tablet PC scene, including the otherwise hardcore mobile phone makers. The latest is RIM who are working on a tablet of their own that’s been dubbed by some as the ‘BlackPad’. It’s quite possible that we just might see it at their annual RIM BlackBerry Developer Conference that’s due to commence soon. If it’s announced then, we could see a launch of the device come November, in time of the holidays. There’s not much information about this device but the Wall Street Journal said it would have a 7-inch screen. It’s quite unlikely that RIM would go Android so I’m personally looking forward to it running on a BlackBerry OS6 system. If I were you, I’d start seriously saving up as the tablets are coming, come year end.

Samsung Galaxy Tab in India this October
Earlier this month, Samsung did amaze loads of people with its Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet launch. As per our well-placed source, Samsung will release Galaxy Tab in India this October. The eye soothing 7-inch Galaxy Tab tablet is already available in Europe.
Apple iPad tablet isn't officially available in India yet. And just when we were waiting for iPad to arrive, we were informed that Samsung Galaxy Tab would be released in India before the festive season of Diwali.
Apple iPad tablet isn't officially available in India yet. And just when we were waiting for iPad to arrive, we were informed that Samsung Galaxy Tab would be released in India before the festive season of Diwali.
Now, the web is buzzing with discussions about the expected price of the Galaxy Tab in India. At this moment, the Galaxy Tab is listed for 600 GBP (Rs. 42,650 approx.) on Amazon UK website. Based on that, we can expect the Galaxy Tab tablet to cost around Rs. 40,000 approx. in India. While on the other hand, the Apple iPad can be purchased in India from the gray market for a price starting at Rs. 32,000 or higher (based on the storage capacity). Having said that, Samsung does have a knack of surprising us with their pricing (and it's often a pleasant surprise).
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph designed for the adventurous yet classy ladies
Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph designed for the adventurous yet classy ladies
As far as diving watches go, the options are very limited for women. Most are simply not designed for a woman's delicate wrist. We have to resort to men's watches to fulfill this need and it is indeed an annoyance. The other alternative is to get cheap, fake watches. Not anymore though as Omega has come up with the ladies’ Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph. It is specifically for women. It is identical to the men’s version in every way except for the size. This one is far more dainty as compared to the men's bulky version. The helium release valve and water resistance of 600 metre are impressive. The watch is gorgeous as well.

Sony RDP-NWSK8 an uber stylish dock
Sony Japan has unveiled the RDP-NWSK8 a dock which packs in powerful stereo speakers. Unlike other docks this one has a replaceable front face plate giving the user an option of choosing from four colorful plates to suit the mood. Coming to the specs the speakers deliver an output of 40 watts. It will sell in Japan for 40,000 Yen.
Terra Star
TerreStar Genus hybrid satellite phone hits AT&T at long last for $799
It's been just shy of a year since TerreStar's Windows Mobile-based Genus was announced for AT&T, offering a unique combination of GSM / HSPA backed up with satellite capability for those times when you find yourself in the middle of nowhere; in fact, you may have assumed that it had already been released by now. After all, this isn't the phone for 97 percent of the population -- it runs Windows Mobile and still works in places where us soft city folk would never dream of going -- so odds are good you never bothered to follow up on it. Fact is, though, it's just now available for the first time today, so as long as you've got a line of sight to TerreStar's bird and a willingness to tolerate WinMo 6.5.3, you'll be able to make and receive calls throughout the US, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands and in the surrounding waters -- and it's all on one telephone number. Of course, having a single number eliminates the cool factor of being able to say "if you can't reach me, try my sat phone," but let's be honest: convenience wins here. Right now, the phone's only available to business and government users... and with $799 upfront for the phone and satellite service running $25 a month plus per-minute, per-message, and per-megabyte charges of 65 cents, 40 cents, and 5 dollars, respectively, that's probably for the best. Follow the break for AT&T's full press release.
Apple iPod
Apple docks to grace the vehicle's rear entertainment system in new BMWs
Now BMW may not necessarily be the very first of the big name car manufacturers since we already heard of the special edition Brabus iBusiness vehicle with Mercedes that was totally tricked out with Apple. But BMW has plans on making the iPad a somewhat major component in the vehicle, well at least the rear of the vehicle. The new BMWs will now come with an iPad/iPhone dock for those seated in the rear. No longer will you have those weirdly placed screens in the rear of the front seats backrest. You’ll now be able to hook up your iPad or iPhone for net connectivity while on the go or just sit back and watch a movie. Apple’s devices are taking over... well still taking over.
Peek 9 Gains Speed And More Functionality
Peek 9 Gains Speed And More Functionality
It doesn’t appear as if there’s been any improvements made to the hardware since the Pronto, but today Peek officially revealed their Peek 9 software update which still improves the device on many fronts.
Overall the Peek is claimed to be considerably faster now (up to 9 times coincidentally) which will be greatly appreciated since the Peek UI has always suffered from a bit of lag, though never unusable. It’s also claimed to have better reception thanks to software improvements, even where signal strength is low: “We’ve re-configured our wireless connectivity algorithms to help hold a signal longer and stronger in places with low or bad coverage, letting you take your mind off of how many bars you have and focus more on what matters.”
And while it still can’t be used to make calls, the Peek 9 gains even more smartphone-like functionality with weather and real-time location data via Google Maps, a Streams app for following RSS feeds and the ability to open more email attachments like Word docs, PDFs and even spreadsheets. The Peek 9 hardware will set you back $69.99 with service starting at $19.95/month (cheaper the more months you sign up for) or $99.99 which includes two months of service.

HTC Announced the Desire HD and Desire Z with updated Sense UI and new HTCSense.com
HTC Corporation is out with two new Android handsets that will of course feature their ‘World Famous’ HTC Sense UI experience and a new additional function called HTCSense.com. The two handsets are the HTC Desire HD which is essentially the HTC HD that’s finally moved on from a WinMo OS to Android and then there’s the HTC Desire Z an upgrade to the ultra funky Desire. As high end Android handsets go, these two devices are quite up there with the rest.
JC/DC Pop Hours watches inspired by building blocks
JC/DC Pop Hours watches inspired by building blocks
Lego has a special place in my heart and I simply cannot pass up anything that resembles these building blocks. The JC/DC Pop Hours watches might not officially be Lego, but we can see that's where they got their inspiration from. They have been created by French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, who drew on his childhood love of everyone’s favorite Swedish bricks for inspiration. I'll keep thinking that it's Lego though, makes it more special to me. The buttons are invisible and touch sensitive and the LED display can scroll date, time and a message. These are clever features that are impressive. But to be honest, the design itself has bowled me over.

New Panasonic Toughbook Models Arrive in India
Panasonic's Toughbook range is known for its ruggedness and "go anywhere" nature. These laptops can go to places and do stuff no other "normal" laptops could handle. For example, you can drop a Toughbook from a height of 76cms and it would survive the fall (even while it's on!). Interestingly, the height is reduced to 30cms when the laptop is off -probably because the security mechanisms would be active when it's powered off. They also come with waterproof keyboards and some versions can survive 0.2 liter of water spillage. If all these weren't enough, these models can also resist pressure load of 100 kg and localised pressure load of 30 kg.
The CF-19 and CF-31 models from the range run on Windows 7 Professional and comes with a three-year limited warranty on parts and labour.
Here are the prices of the new models:
CF-19- Rs. 2,12,000CF-31- Rs. 2,54,000CF-U1-Rs. 1,58,000CF-S9- Rs. 1,49,000CF-F9- Rs. 1,57,000CF-C1- Rs. 1,52,000
