New Asus Eee Pad Transformer
Asus Chairman Jonney Shih revealed some more details about the new tablet at the AsiaD event in Hong Kong. Most interestingly, Nvidia’s upcoming “Kal-El” quad-core processor looks to be in the cards. For those not in the know, Kal-El will include a 12-core GPU, whichNvidia says will offer three times the performance of Tegra 2 (used in the current Transformer), along with some other enhancements. There will also be a 10” display, at least one USB port, and a mini-HDMI output.
Shih also says that the thing will only be 8.3mm thick, meaning it will be pretty much the same thickness as the Apple iPad 2. On the software front, it looks like the new Eee Pad will ship with the brand new Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” operating system, as expected.
