A 9.7-inch android tablet called “Hongpaiyihao (Red Group Number One)” launched by a Chinese vendor is making news by costing twice the price of an iPad. Touted to be made exclusively for government officials of China, the RMB 9,999 (US$1,580) tablet comes to you in a leather case which has the product name embossed in gold. It features Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 5 MP camera, 2 MP front-facing camera, 3G connectivity and runs on Android 3.2 Honeycomb. A 8,000 mAh battery, means that it should run for at least a week. However that's not all that you are paying for.
The device comes pre-installed with pro-China apps, like Red Microblog, and several of China’s stated-fund newspapers including the Electronic Public Opinion that offers exclusive content. While the homepage to the device seems inaccessible, it's hard to say if this is a prank or it is something you can actually own.
