iPocket Watch, Nano Multitouch Pocket Watch

We have featured a multitude of designs here on Geeky Gadgets which have been created to transform Apple’s iPod nano device into a watch that you can wear on your wrist. However this new iPocket Watch design created by Edwin Conan provides an innovative solution for carrying your iPod nano, not on your wrist, but in your pocket, using the iPocket Watch concept. The iPocket Watch is currently on the crowdfunding funding web site Pozible, similar to Kickstarter. Looking to make the jump from concept to production, so if you think you would use the iPocket Watch with your iPod nano. Jump over to Pozible to make a pledge and help the design get off the ground. The iPocketWatch is constructed from aircraft grade aluminium or silver, and is then hand finished to the highest standard. A special Black Edition can also be ordered on request. Edwin Conan explains a little more about the inspiration and thought process behind the creation of his innovative iPocket Watch design. “Last year Apple updated the iPod Nano 6th generation with additional watch faces in its watch function. One of which is the classic roman numerals. Such a classic watch face needs a classic watch case to match and celebrate, and the most classic watch of all time is, of course, the pocket watch. The idea of turning the iPod Nano into a multi-touch, multi-function, high tech, modern day pocket watch was born. The classic men’s watch will always be the pocket watch. While everyone else wears the iPod Nano as a wrist watch, why not bring a bit of yesterday to your style and distinguish yourself from the rest of the world by fashioning this admirable iPW (iPocketWatch)?”

If the trio of slabs ZTE announced earlier this week weren't enough for you, sit tight, the outfit just announced it's bringing a total of eight new phones to Barcelona next week. The new handsets will reportedly flaunt multi-core processors, LTE radios and the latest versions of the Android and Windows Phone platforms. This announcement both echos and one-ups the recently announced Mimosa X, which gets its dual-core chops from an NVIDIA Tegra 2, but boasts only HSPA+, rather than the promised LTE. ZTE says it hopes the new devices will help it become one of the world's top three handset providers by the year 2015.

Philips introduces 2 more TVs

3DTV sales did not really take off in a way that many would have expected, as the jump from Full High Definition to 3D is a totally different ballgame compared to Standard Definition to High Definition. Still, that has not stopped TV manufacturers from churning out 3D-capable TVs, and Philips is one of them, releasing a couple more models that can support dual-view gaming in order to allow different players see separate screens – simultaneously. The Philips PFL6007 and PFL7007 are the top-of-the-range models just in case you have been saving up for one of these and have the cash to splash around when they hit the market. How does this sort of wizardry work? Well, the TV’s 3D integrations will split the image on the screen into two, where one user will wear a pair of 3D glasses, letting them view one image on the left side of the screen, and the other will put on a different pair of glasses in orer to check out just what the right side shows. Individual viewpoints will be blown up to the TV’s actual screen size for your benefit. Other hardware specifications include built-in Wi-Fi support and 3D capability.

Xbox 720 to have a touchscreen controller

There isn’t going to be a new Xbox this year – but that doesn’t mean rumors about it are going to stop. According to the folks at Xbox World magazine, who were informed by its sources – the next Xbox “will be a matt-black media hub with a mission to bring games to life in your living room with augmented reality, directional sound, and a four-player, finger-tracking Kinect.” The magazine also claims that Microsoft is currently experimenting with a tablet-like controller that features a shape similar to the PlayStation Vita – which in this case includes the touchscreen display in the middle as well (think Wii U). The touchscreen is said to be “second only to Kinect in how you operate your console. It could be a remote control when you’re watching TV, a browser when you’re on the internet, extra buttons and information when you’re playing a game or a portable display when you want to take your game with you.” The next Xbox is also said to cost as much as £399 – about $628. A little on the pricey side don’t you think? Then again, it could be the standard price of our next generation consoles. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. What do you think of the Xbox 720 having a touchscreen on its gamepad?

We are have already seen a number of different transparent display device prototypes, and companies are starting to put some of these devices into production, we wonder how long it will be before some of the technology featured in the video is actually released.

Huawei MediaPad arrives on AT&T

Huawei has just announced that their tablet which was first revealed to the world last year will be making its way towards AT&T from tomorrow onwards. AT&T’s enterprise users are the target market of both the carrier and Huawei, where one can choose from different price points to suit a particular business account. Just to recap, we do know that the Huawei Mediapad will come equipped with a 7″ IPS multi-touch display alongside the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system from Google. With a resolution count of 1280 x 800 pixels, your eyes will be in for a feast, while the 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor running underneath the hood should have enough muscle to get whatever job done on your new tablet.
At the back lies a 5-megapixel camera, while the front has a 1.3-megapixel camera with 4X zoom and autofocus. The back camera is capable of shooting Full HD video, making it a backup just in case your smartphone’s memory is already full. Since it rides with AT&T, this means it will also play nice with AT&T’s Wi-Fi Hotspots. Having said that, I am not quite sure why it is not going to arrive with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich – perhaps it is a US thing.

Keyboard pants spark off Beauty & the Geek fashion rage

This pair of Keyboard pants that you see here prove that mixing business and pleasure have gone literal, where designer Erik de Nijs decided to integrate a modern computer keyboard into a pair of modern jeans. Dubbed as the “Beauty and the Geek” pants, it brings together the world of fashion and technology in a rather controversial outfit. Not only can you update your Facebook status with your pair of pants, it will also come with integrated speakers, a wireless computer mouse for easy navigation through the different graphical user interfaces you have to contend with, and of course, the pièce de résistance, a full-sized Bluetooth enabled keyboard. I would now think twice about wiping my hands on it after having a few slices of pizza, as I’d loathe to type on a sticky keyboard. How the heck do you wash this pair of pants, anyway? Come to think of it, this is not exactly the most ergonomic keyboard to type on, and no wonder the model is looking so glum. He’s stuck with an old school Dell, circa 2006. I’d look like that, too, if I were to work on such a machine today.
