Oregon Scientific rolls out MEEP tablet for kids

Oregon Scientific has unveiled a new kids-centric tablet called as MEEP! At the recent Toy Industry Association's 109th American International Toy Fair in New York. Running on Android 4.0, the device comes packed with a 7-inch Neonode zForce touchscreen display encased in toughened housing with a silicon rubber sleeve. The Wi-Fi enabled device also comes with intuitive Parental Control technology which puts protective controls in the hands of parents who fear unsupervised usage by their kids. Besides that, it features 4GB of solid state internal storage with an SD media card expansion slot for up to 64GB, USB connectivity, an audio jack for headphones and the G-sensor which ensures that the image onscreen is always the right way up. The makers are expected to add a host of accessories for use with the tablet like musical instruments. For now, there is no word on its processor and front-facing camera details. The tablet is slated for launch sometime in August for a price tag of US$149.
